Program: Cymbeline

Marti Etheridge (She / Her)

Cymbeline & Jupiter

A recent transplant, Marti Etheridge is thrilled to be performing for the first time in Colorado. She is really excited to combine some of her favorite pastimes, Shakespeare, theater, and weed, with this stellar group of women and nonbinary artists. If you've been to Texas or NYC, you might have seen her tread the boards before (Theater Three, Shakespeare Dallas, Oche House Theater, Dallas Children's Theater, and more), but today, you can find her voice right there on your TV and other streaming devices. Marti has voiced animated characters for Fairy Tail, Takt Op. Destiny, Attack on Titan: Final Season, A Certain Magical Index, One Piece, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, Parallel World Pharmacy, and more. She would like to thank Colorado for legalizing marijuana, Shakespeare for writing the whackiest play, and Cheyenne for watching our rascals at night.

Amanda Sturman (She / Her)

Iachimo

(Originally swing for Belarius, Cornelius, the Queen, Arviragus, Imogen, and more)

This is Amanda’s first show with Bowls with the Bard and she’s honored to have worked with such a talented and fun cast! Amanda was born and raised in Cortez, Colorado and began theatre in middle school; since then, she’s been hooked. She received her Bachelor’s of Theatre Arts from Arcadia University in 2022 and is excited to continue her theatre journey in Colorado! Previous acting experience includes Elizabeth Rex, Amadeus, Bacchae, Noises Off, and 37 Postcards in addition to several devised pieces. Sarah Duttlinger (She / Her)

Cymbeline Deviser

We would like to give special thanks to Sarah Duttlinger. Sarah was set to play Track 1: Iachimo, Guiderius, First Gentleman, and First Lord. About a week before we opened, unexpected circumstances forced Sarah to have to leave the show. She was an integral part of building the play you will see tonight and while we are saddened that she could not join us in person, we are so grateful for her contributions to Stoned Cymbeline.

Plot Summary by the Folger Shakespeare Library

Cymbeline, which takes place in ancient Britain, is filled with hidden identities, extraordinary schemes, and violent acts. Long ago, the two sons of King Cymbeline were abducted, leaving Cymbeline with a daughter, Imogen. Cymbeline’s stepson, Cloten, is now his heir, and Cymbeline expects Imogen to marry him. She secretly marries Posthumus Leonatus instead.

Banished from court, Posthumus makes a foolish bet on Imogen’s chastity, which leads to false evidence that she has betrayed him. He plots to have her killed, and starts by sending her on a journey. Meanwhile, still angry about Imogen’s marriage, Cloten plans to find and rape her.

Imogen—now disguised as a boy, “Fidele”—unwittingly encounters her brothers, who have grown up in a mountain cave unaware of their princely origins. The brothers kill Cloten, but Imogen, horrified, believes they have slain Posthumus.

Cymbeline, meanwhile, refuses to pay a tribute to the Romans, who invade Britain. After the Romans are repelled in battle, Cymbeline agrees to the tribute, his sons are restored, and Imogen and Posthumus are reconciled.
